Dear reader,
today I would like to talk about something that our society does not pay much attention, but it is of incredible fundamental importance for us all.

This is the process of excretion.

I know this may seem crazy, but some days ago i was talking to a friend of mine who complained of abdominal pain. When I asked her what was going on, she was a little shy and uncomfortable to admit that she had not been to the toilet in the last three days. Three days? Unbelievable, not even an alarm had sounded that maybe something was wrong with her. It is scary to know that in our society, especially nowadays, this is something common. Many people with whom I have talked to end up telling me that they have some form of problem in this area.
Many people are not aware that accumulating this process may generate serious disturbances in the digestive system and unfortunately, if it carries on, cancer.

It’s important that we pay attention to this small factor, reeducating our of digestive system, without paranoia, nor radicalism. Taking small steps we can maintain ourselves healthy.

And so I would like to share with you some small tips which are nothing new, but which may be able to help you:

1. Drink water, keep your body hydrated, it works better this way. Your faeces will transit more easily through your intestines this way.

2. Eat fruit, leaf vegetables, legumes, other vegetables in this order, when possible (and always with their peel). My wife, Sonia, just made a marvellous asparagus risotto with stir pumpkin. And guess what, the pumpkin was sautéed in the frying pan with its peel. It makes no difference to taste.

3. Try to avoid in the maximum way possible meats of any kind, cheeses, and flour.

4. Eat many fruits as you can, when possible with their peel, they are the perfect nutritional food. The more variety of colours the better.
If you intestines become blocked, or after a weekend in which you’ve had a bit too much, and on Monday your intestines may be a little slower, use natural laxatives, such as drinking water eating dried prunes or any other natural laxative you are familiar with.

5. Walk, do exercises, move your body. Do not use chemical laxatives they will only make interesting lazy and will stimulate them to work less well. They may also kill your intestinal flora. I am not familiar with anybody proof of the effects of probiotic yoghurts, but many of my friends say that when they have eaten them, the functioning of their intestines improves.

So here are a few tips. Please remember, when in doubt always consult your doctor. Moreover, do not become radical, don’t go into crazy diets, nor anything that a friend may have read on the Internet. There are no miracle cures. The best for your body is a well balanced diet, varied and rich in colours, full of life!f

See you next Tuesday.

Have a great week

When you become a member of the DeRose Method there are many activities which you can participate. These practices cover a wide range of activities, from the more theoretical to the more practical and even the social. We refer to them as supplemental practices.

In the supplemental practices you can experience many aspects of the DeRose Method. One example of such activities is called Meditation Training – you can find more information about this practice linked here. Another example at the other end of the spectrum are the Gourmets, in these activities we go out as a group to a restaurant and enjoy the good food and the company!

Further example is a practice called sat chakra. This practice is considered a very important event in which we get together and execute many techniques such as breathing, concentration, vocalisation and metallisation, at the end we normally eat great food and share each others’ company. We also use this activity as a time when the students graduate from level to level.

But by far, my favourite among all practices is the theory class. In this activity we will discuss and dig deep into many of the aspects which provide the foundation to the DeRose Method. They are not essential, but I often find that knowing more of the background, history and points of view of a philosophy can be instrumental in helping me to comprehend and execute it with more pleasure.

These activities and practices are all part of your plan as a member of the DeRose Method. Check out our timetable for more information as to when these activities take place and when you can join them!

In our relationship with our practitioners everyone is an individual. This means that practitioners hava a programme developed exclusively for them which follows the guidelines of the DeRose Method and which is personalised. The ultimate objective is to achieve individual progress and evolution.

Practitioners select an Instructor to work with them on this personal development programme, setting goals and objectives. Practitioners and their instrusctors will then monitor the progress consistently and constantly. This programme follows the guidelines and the stages outlined in the DeRose Method’s evolutive scale. Each practitioner can go as far into this scale as they desire (although your instructor will always be hoping for a graduation to the next level).

Everyone starts at the DeRose Method at the first degree, beginner. The graduation to the next degree takes place when the practitioner fulfils certain predefined criteria which will also be part of the individual development programme. Each stage after that generates a quality improvement producing an effective development goal at each stage of the process.

Are practitioners obliged to progress? Of course not! Our Method can be easily personalised so that each individual can have the experience that is best for them. However, your instructor will always want to have goals to help you to improve.

Through a practitioners’ membership the objective is always to maintain evolution and achieve ever higher levels of performance, development and satisfaction!

Managing stress, refining emotions

In the deepest state of rest and absorption of the effects of the techniques, the regeneration that takes place goes beyond the mere physical metabolization, by which all organic tissues are revitalized and strengthened, directed for perfect functioning, health and longevity. In this deep state pre-conceptions as well as prejudices are suspended, those reserves that prevent us from self-awareness and, ultimately, from self-realization.

Even if we don’t realize it, an important part of our drive is dissipated with the clash between conscious intentions and unconscious dispositions, very often resistances to conscious intents – not always for our benefit. This inner tension is expressed through a high level of stress and overwhelming emotions. The intimate personal work that takes place during the deeper stage promotes changes on conscious intentions and unconscious dispositions, according to the truest aspirations of the individual.

The disagreement between both conscious and unconscious determinations is gradually solved, as goals that assert the true aspirations come through and are addressed. This diminishes and eventually stops the dissipation of one’s finest driving energy, enabling it to be purposefully directed to those aims. With the regular practice of this technique of absorption of the effects, especially when preceded by the other techniques (breathing, organic cleansing and physical positions, and others), the practitioner builds the setting for personal accomplishment that is gradually translated into the practical initiatives that design a harmonious reality, free of stress and rich with favorable emotions.

Absorbing the effects of the techniques of the practice is, in itself, a technique, the specific moment of the practice to metabolize all the previous parts. It is the most effective tool for eliminating stress.

Initially, the technique aims to rest and relax the whole body, into a progressively deeper state. With the regular practice, this leads to a threshold between sleep and vigil, when all your best capacities as an individual are enhanced - all the skills, gifts and qualities.

You can then positively affect your emotions and your intentions, aims and projects, improving your ability to get things done. The energy generated throughout the practice is specifically aimed at personal accomplishment, emotional stability and overcoming inner tensions.

Consolidating strength, power and energy

The terms originally associated with the ancient techniques that make the DeRose Method are strength, power and energy. The technique of absorption of the effects of the practice is yet another way to achieve these three main results.

An attentive look at the techniques
The terms strength, power and energy are consistently repeated in the ancient texts as results of the practice, results that naturally percolate from the physical to the emotional level, the intellectual and intuitional levels and beyond. An attentive look at the techniques will only confirm this.

The breathing techniques increase the quota of vital energy, they regulate the impact of emotions increasing the power of focus, the combination of both effects brings a greater inner and outer strength.

The detoxifying effect of the organic cleansing techniques, revitalizing organic tissues and regulating hormonal release, improves the flux of energy and enhances it, with a direct increase in organic power and strength.

The physical positions infuse the energy throughout the body, strengthening muscles, tendons, ligaments, articulations, bones, with a direct increase of physical power.
The technique for the absorption of the effects of the practice comes as a tool to entirely assimilate these effects, consolidating the three main results of the practice.

And exactly how does the absorption of the effects occur?

More about this DeRose Method technique next week!
